Lightweight Lineage Jaguar’s
original 1963 Lightweight E-types (chassis S850659-S850669) achieved legendary
status through their use of aluminum panels and tuned engines. This specific
car, chassis no. 850792, sits chronologically between the original 12
lightweights and the single 1964 semi-lightweight prototype (S850817), sharing
a unique place in E-type history. Competition
Provenance and Preparation Delivered
new as a RHD road car in the UK (license J3414), this E-type was quickly
converted for competition use. Evidence of its early racing life includes the
unique flat floor modification on the left side for optimal exhaust routing. Later
converted to LHD for European events, the car has a proven international rally
history, including an entry in the historic Rally of Monte Carlo in the 1990s.
The sale includes a comprehensive documentation file featuring original HTP
papers, race results, invoices, German road registration, and detailed
restoration photographs. Race-Ready
Condition The car is
offered in 100% race-ready condition and features German road registration. It
conforms closely to semi-lightweight specifications with aluminum doors, boot
lid, and hardtop (only the bonnet remains steel). Key
features include: • Safety: A newly installed,
KNAF-approved FIA roll cage featuring an exceptionally strong A-pillar design. • Fuel System: FIA-standard 120-liter
aluminum fuel tank with a quick-release Aston filler cap. • Bodywork: Widened, homologated rearfenders capable of housing wide 700L Dunlop tires;
• Interior: Period-style cockpit with
current FIA seat and 6-point harnesses, circuit breaker, and Lexan windows. Mechanical
Spares Package The vehicle
currently houses a reliable, standard-spec spare engine. The sale includes the
primary, high-performance race engine (approx. 330 HP output) built with
specialist components from Rob Beere and Denis Welsh, along with: • Two additional spare gearboxes. • Two sets of wheels and tires (Avon
CR6-ZZ and Dunlop 600/650M15). Recent
